Guest Lecture: Conversations in Oncology and Evidence of Dietary Therapies

Ralph W. Moss, Ph.D., has been writing about alternative and complementary cancer treatments since the mid-1970s. His journalistic efforts began as a science writer for Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. While there he learned the surprising truth about the trials on a cancer treatment drug, “Laetrile” and that MSKCC was not reporting the true findings. This was only the first of many injustices in the world cancer treatment that Moss began to discover.

After being fired by MSKCC as a whistle-blower in 1977, Moss wrote The Cancer Industry (1980). This was a full-scale expos  of President Nixon’s “War on Cancer.” This book, published by Grove Press and featured on CBS’s 60 Minutes, took an in-depth look at the confluence of money and medicine in the cancer field.

In the subsequent years, Moss has written or edited twelve books and four film documentaries on questions relating to cancer research and treatment. He currently writes Moss Reports, detailed reports on the most common cancer diagnoses and provides informational and personalized consultations for cancer patients and their families. In 2019, he wrote The Ultimate Guide to Cancer: DIY Research, to help lay people research their own cancers.

Dr. Moss’s career has been focused on advocating for self-advocacy, critical thinking, and transparent science. He advocates not for the most profitable treatments, but the most effective and hidden research that is proven over and over again to help even the most extreme cases of cancer.
